Batman puts the boot in on Dark Knight trailer
Martin Anderson
A nice glimpse at the comic subtleties of Ledger's joker here...but Batman a torturer..?
Published on Jul 7, 2008
The latest TV spot for The Dark Knight shows a little more of the comic aspect of the late Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker.
"I don't want to kill you - what would I do without you? To them, you're just a freak...like me!"
This trailer retreads the psychological terrain of the original Batman (1990) perhaps more than any other, and goes some way to re-establishing the more traditional symbiosis between the two characters.
On a slightly more worrying note, Batman is allowed a little cell-time by Lt.Gordon, and seems to be taking the opportunity to duff the Joker up, slamming his head against a table. Of course, it's all out of context and snipped together, but it does look a little bit 'guantanamo' for our noble caped crusader...
