The stupidity of The Goonies 2

I know The Goonies never say die, but I kind of wish they had done
The Goonies: flat out 80s classic, no questions asked. But why make a sequel after all this time?
Published on Dec 13, 2007
Top of that tree for me is The Goonies. The 80s classic has it all. Crazy gadgets, a fat, loud-mouthed goofball, some very ugly baddies and the gorgeous Kerri Green (who played Andy Carmichael). Hey, for a young boy Kerri was gorgeous. In fact, I’d have her on my Den of Geek loves… entry any day. But I digress…
Very little can persuade me that The Goonies wasn’t one of the films of the 80s. Conversely, very, very little will convince me that Goonies 2 (due out in 2009 folks) won’t be the worst sequel ever made. Ever. Yup, that includes Speed 2. And Barbershop 2. Hell, it even includes Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo.
There’s no definite plot as there’s no definitive word whether it’s really a goer or not or whether it’s even going to be a live action film – the rumour at the moment is that it’s going to be an animated series. Either way, it looks like enough of the original cast members (including Sean Astin and Corey Feldman) are interested to come up with something.
I know The Goonies never say die, but I kind of wish they had done. The Goonies is a classic and I want it to remain that way. I fear, very much, that this sequel (in whatever form it takes) might sully all the respect I once had for everyone involved in the first film.

You can tell that Hollywood really has run out of original ideas...what next? Another version of The 39 Steps?

Seen the Bourne trilogy?
