Spider-man 4 and The Green Hornet: Sony announce planned dates
Simon Brew
A pair of comic book adaptations to stick on your calendar. Could the webslinger be going head to head with the Dark Knight?
Published on Jun 23, 2008
The webslinger will be taking a four-year break from our screens while Sony presumably sets about ‘rebooting’ the franchise, and as yet it remains unclear as to how involved star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi are likely to be.
Sony, meanwhile, has renewed the rights from Marvel, and has put the film down for a summer 2011 release date. Given the current tri-annual production cycle of the Batman movies, does that mean Gotham’s finest will be facing off against Spider-man? That remains to be seen, although there’s definitely Captain America and the very last Harry Potter film out around the same time.
Secondly, after a prolonged gestation period, the film of The Green Hornet has finally been put onto our calendars. This is Sony again, and it’s set 25th June 2010 as the release date for the film. Seth Rogen is going to be starring, and it’s he and Evan Goldberg who have penned the script (the pair joined forces to write last year’s Superbad, too). Rogen will next be seen in Kevin Smith’s Zach & Miri Make A Porno.
So now we wait for further casting and production news. It may be some time...

I can't help but feel that The Green Hornet is going to be some kind of camp spoof rather than some dark pulp hero yarn.

Isn't the last Harry Potter film going to be split into two parts, released summer and winter?

@Norton77 - yes but Winter 2010 and followed by Summer 2011.

Midnighter, I have to agree. When you say Green and Seth Rogen in the same sentence, I certainly don't think "Green Hornet."
Other green stuff, yes. Green Hornet, not so much.
