Sam Raimi: heading back to Spider-man after all?
Simon Brew
The long path to Spider-man 4 may yet include director Sam Raimi, if the latest word is to be believed.
It's been thought now for many months that Sam Raimi's involvement with the Spider-man franchise was over, not least with talk of him directing a Jack Ryan film, or revisiting the Evil Dead series again. But according to a chat he had with the website Dark Horizons, this may no longer be the case.
Raimi told the site that he was open to the idea of doing the fourth film, which is currently being written by James Vanderbilt. Assuming a script is ready in a few months' time, which appears to be the current plan, then Raimi will take a look. He reveals that if he has his energy back, if the script is good and if Sony still want him behind the camera, then he could return for Spidey 4.
In the same article, he also talks about the recasting rumours, and should he be on board the project, then there may be a future in the series for Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst after all.

Re: Sam Raimi: heading back to Spider-man after all?No, no no no no. Sam Raimi needs to go. So does that hack Tobey Maguire and Hortence the Mule Faced Girl. I made this clear when I reviewed Spidey 3. The franchise needs a total rebooting by someone who doesn't hate masks. | |
Re: Sam Raimi: heading back to Spider-man after all?Brilliant. I really hope they don't get rid of him, any of them actually. And clearly Bruce Campbell needs in. |
