Could Anchorman 2 be on the way after all?
Ron Burgundy
According to a recent interview with director Adam McKay, the news of Ron Burgundy’s death may have been greatly exaggerated, and Anchorman 2 may still be on the cards…

Like a flickering light bulb, Anchorman 2 is on, then off. Then on again. We heard from Paul Rudd in June that an Anchorman sequel was at least a possibility, but only if Paramount gave it the go-ahead.
Then, in July, we heard that a sequel was "not happening, for sure, one hundred percent" from none other than Anchorman director, Adam McKay, and that, it seemed, was that.
Now, however, the self same McKay appears to have changed his mind, and hinted that the swaggering, sexist Ron Burgundy could be set to return after all. Speaking to Collider, the director said that his tweet back in April, which read "So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried" provoked such a strong fan response that it may have improved the chances of a sequel being given the green light.
"It did, it made a difference," McKay said. "Paramount heard it. Adam Goodman, the President of Paramount, was on the first one so he loves it and when that outcry came, he was kind of excited because he knew it could maybe push it towards happening. That having been said, I'm clearly going into it like another movie so if it does happen it's still two years away or a ways away. And I haven't talked to anyone. There's nothing happening right now but it helped, it helped."
It's a glimmer of hope, and at least offers the possibility of a new Anchorman movie, even if it's a remote one. Meanwhile, McKay has an entire list of projects currently in development, with his next movie set to be an adaptation of Garth Ennis' comic book, The Boys, while he's also producing a television series called I Don't Care About Your Band, which he describes as "A full frontal assault at Sex and the City."
So, while Ron Burgundy isn't dead yet, it could be quite some time before Anchorman 2 finally hits the big screen.
