Shrek Forever After: reactions and new trailer

Simon Brew

The final chapter of Shrek is picking up lukewarm reactions, but there’s a new trailer for Shrek Forever After to try and tempt you to see it anyway…

Published on Apr 26, 2010

It's looking like the collected fears about the upcoming Shrek Forever After are proving to be pretty near the money. Last week, the film was screened for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival, and the reactions did little to dampen the suspicions that this is a film more motivated by the need to bang out another film rather than one put together due to a compelling story idea.

The main criticism? That it's not a bad film, it's just one that's run out of ideas. On the positive side, the 3D is reported to be good, and there are some funny moments to enjoy. US audiences will be able to make their own minds up on May 21st.

Before then, a new trailer has surfaced for the film, to promote the IMAX screenings of the film. We've got that for you right here...

Out of interest, is anyone particularly looking forward to seeing this one?

No, I'll give this a pass. I really quite liked Shrek but was already finding the second one a bit tired, so skipped the third. I won't have a problem skipping this one too. Like you say, the motivations here were pretty transparent.

Hmmm... First one was brilliant. Second one was good. Third one was a travesty. Fourth one looks... not terrible? So maybe.

I'll pass on the flick, but I'll definitely have a chimichanga for lunch today! Mmmmmm.
