Re: Shrek Forever After new poster, first three films to get 3D retrofitAm curious about Shrek4, but would really want to see a review first after the abysmal Shrek 3
Re: Shrek Forever After new poster, first three films to get 3D retrofitI saw a few posters when I went to see Kick Ass - they looked quite funny, but weren't prominently placed, or lit or anything. They all seemed to use well known catchphrases re-worded for the context (which I find amusing, juvenile that I am)but beyond that, didn't give much away.
Re: Shrek Forever After new poster, first three films to get 3D retrofit"It ain't ogre till it's ogre"? "What the Shrek is going on?"? If puns as cheesy as these are the best they can offer, I think I'll start sharpening my pitchfork early.
Re: Shrek Forever After new poster, first three films to get 3D retrofitdoes this mean they're gonna slap on that dreadful post-3D or are they gonna re-render them? |

Shrek Forever After new poster, first three films to get 3D retrofit

The latest poster for Shrek Forever After is revealed, as DreamWorks Animation confirms plans to fit 3D to the first three Shrek movies…
Is it just us, or are we not picking up an awful lot of excitement for Shrek Forever After out there? The film, which comes out next month in the States, is likely to pick up a sizeable treasure chest of cash, but as we've noted before, Toy Story 3 arrives the month after, and that's the animated film that seems to have got people's attention.
To be fair, though, after the disappointing Shrek The Third, DreamWorks has a bit of work to do with its fourth and final big screen outing for the franchise (although the Puss In Boots spin-off is on the way, of course). The trailers that have been released for the movie thus far aren't showing a great deal of promise either, which we're suspecting hasn't helped build up too much excitement for the film.
Lest we forget, though, that Shrek 2 is the biggest grossing animated movie of all time, with a take of $441m in the US and a worldwide total of $919m. That's some serious change, and Shrek Forever After is likely to snag a fair bit for itself.
Ahead of the film's 21st May bow in the US, DreamWorks has released, via Facebook, what looks like the final poster for the movie. You can see that over there.
The studio has also announced plans to convert the first three films to 3D for a planned 3D Blu-ray release. DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg told the NAB convention this week (via The Hollywood Reporter) that "Our movies exist in digital files to begin with. To go back and rebuild to a quality 3D experience is not inexpensive, but we are about to achieve a pretty high quality result.".
Shrek Forever After arrives in the UK on 9th April.
