Corey Haim: 1971-2010
Den Of Geek
Sad news: it's being reported that the actor Corey Haim has died at the age of 38.
Published on Mar 10, 2010
Stories of the death of an actor are never pleasant to write up, but the loss of Corey Haim at the age of just 38 is perhaps even more tragic. The actor, it's being reported, died this morning. The cause of death is believed to be an accidental drug overdose.
Corey Haim shot to fame in the 1980s, and is, of course, particularly known for playing Sam in Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys. He was also involved in the recent straight-to-DVD sequel, and his other credits include Lucas, Prayer Of The Rollerboys and last year's Crank: High Voltage.
His next two projects are already completed, crime thriller New Terminal Hotel and another thriller American Sunset. He was also attached to several other projects currently in development.
But for those of us growing up in the 80s, Haim was a major part of one of the decade's most significant movies for many of us, as Carley recalled just last week in her look back at The Lost Boys.
TMZ has more on the story. Rest in peace, Mr Haim.
UPDATE: The news has now been confirmed by the Los Angeles police.
