Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week
Gaye Birch
Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience, Fringe, Heavy Metal Britannia, Canterbury Tales and a whole load of movies coming up in the next week on UK TV!
Published on Mar 4, 2010
Tonight, Friday March 5th at 9:00pm, BBC4 takes a look at and listen to Heavy Metal Britannia, a rock-doc backward glance at the heavy hitters and power sliders of the violently head-bobbing bands including Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead and Led Zepplin. It airs again on Saturday, March 6th at 2:20am, if you like your rock loud and early, and on Sunday, the 7th at a more respectable 10:30pm.
Fringe returns to its second season after too long away in our estimation, with an episode curiously titled Johari Window. We thought it was the most X Files-esque outing in a while for the show. Catch it on Tuesday March 9th at 10:00pm on Sky1 and meet back at Billy's review from when the ep aired Stateside and tell us if you agree. There's also still chances to see the missing season one episode, Unearthed, on Saturday March 6th at 11:25pm or Monday the 8th at 12:25am.
We mentioned the re-broadcast of the modernised Canterbury Tales a couple weeks back. This week's episode, The Knight's Tale, unites Life On Mars' John Simm with Ashes To Ashes' Keeley Hawes. It's one of the best in the series, relocated to a prison setting, and airs Wednesday, 10th March at 10:00pm on ITV3.
Or, if that doesn't suit and you missed or couldn't find Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience when we first wrote about it, you can catch it on its return trip on Wednesday 10th March at 10:00pm on BBC2. The Welsh comedian doesn't refuse to get his hands dirty when he tackles his first job as Bin Man.
Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and a bit beyond. As always, if we missed anything interesting, have a shout in the comments, with our thanks.
Please also note: the ordinal numbers for dates will help you scan through this simple list with your browser's search function. Enter '6th' in your browser's Find box or window to highlight and/or tab through all movies shown on Saturday. Enjoy!
