Wolverine 2 gearing up for January start
Simon Brew
The script is ready and the hunt for a director begins, as Wolverine 2 gets set to go before the cameras early next year…

The second solo outing for Wolverine is continuing to move ahead, with the Showbiz411 blog now reporting that the screenplay to the film has been completed. It's been written by Christopher McQuarrie, who did uncredited script doctor work before for the X-Men cinematic franchise. He's still best known, however, for penning The Usual Suspects, and he also co-scribed Valkyrie for director Bryan Singer.
McQuarrie's script will follow the story of Wolverine's adventures in Japan, as he trains with a samurai warrior and builds a relationship with the daughter of a Japanese crime lord. It's based on the story arc from Frank Miller and Chris Claremont, and Hugh Jackman has already indicated that he's very happy that this is where Wolverine 2 is heading.
The film, it's also been revealed, will go before the cameras in January 2011, with a summer 2012 release firmly in mind. There's no word on a director yet, but we'd be amazing if Gavin Hood, who helmed the first Wolverine spin-off, will be returning. Likewise Bryan Singer is one you can cross off your list, given his attachment to X-Men: First Class.
We'll keep you posted...
