Has Indiana Jones 5 just moved a bit closer?

A germ of a story is agreed for the fifth Indiana Jones film, reveals Harrison Ford. Now we just have to wait…

Harrison Ford, bless him, is currently trudging around the world trying to generate interest in his latest box office flop, Extraordinary Measures. Battling generally negative reviews and not a fat lot of audience interest, it's probably fair to say that he's not fighting a winning battle.
However, one by-product of his press tour is that he's inevitably getting asked questions about Indiana Jones 5. He's never down-played the idea of putting the hat on one more time, especially given that Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull pulled in nearly $800m of business at the global box office.
This time, he's been talking to the BBC, and revealed that "Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it." He'd hinted at this before, having suggested that they were banding around story thoughts, but it does seem now that they all have a story path to follow.
That said, the film is still some way off by the sounds of it. Ford continued with, "The process works like this. We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it. Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form. Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it's ready and we do it."
And so the wait begins. Our guess is that the earliest we'll see Indy 5 is 2012, by which point Mr Ford will be on the cusp of being 70. Nice work if you can keep getting it...
