Ben Stiller confirms Zoolander 2

Work has indeed started on the story and script for a new Zoolander film, and Ben Stiller has been revealing a few details about it too…
Published on Mar 2, 2010
Last week, we reported the rumours that writer Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2) was set to pen a sequel to Ben Stiller's hit comedy Zoolander. It's been a decade since the first film, which has grown into a sizeable DVD hit, and the reports suggested that Theroux would be making his directorial debut with the project.
And you know what? It all turned out to be true.
Speaking to MTV, Stiller confirmed the story, saying,"Yes, it is true. We are in the process of getting a script written. It's in the early stages, but it's gonna happen. We've been trying for years to... figure it out. It'll have input from all the... Zoolander people. It's just... taken awhile."
He revealed the outline story for the film has been sorted too, saying that "The beginning of the movie is [set]... 10 years later, and Derek & Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody even knows who they are, so they have to re-invent themselves."
Stiller also noted that the reason the film has taken so long to happen is down to the fact that Drake Sather, who created the character of Zoolander, is no longer with us. Sather died back in 2004.
Stiller didn't mention the reports that Jonah Hill was being lined up to play the villain role in Zoolander 2, but you can read more about what he did say over at MTV, right here.
