The Karate Kid remake: the brand new trailer

Does the remake of The Karate Kid suddenly look like the must-see film of the summer off the back of its new trailer? You decide…

"I will teach you real kung-fu."
Now here's a film that, judging by the comments it's attracted thus far, could use a few friends. The remake of The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, isn't one of the summer's most eagerly awaited films, it's probably fair to say. And you suspect that Columbia isn't that fussed about attracting those who still hold the original in high regard, in favour of trying to bring in a new, younger audience.
Columbia has released, with that in mind, a brand new trailer for the film, which you can see below. It's a fairly conventional, by the numbers job from where we're sitting, and appreciating we're not going out on much of a limb here, it doesn't look like it's going to alter too many people's perceptions of what they're going to get.
The Karate Kid arrives in the US from 11th June, and in the UK on 16th July.
