Pineapple Express 2 moving forward?

James Franco has revealed that steps are being taking to get a sequel moving to stoner action flick Pineapple Express…

Appreciating that the competition hasn't exactly been tough, Pineapple Express has nonetheless been the finest stoner action movie of recent years, with a thuddingly delicious ending to it too. Starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, it also picked up quite a bit of money on its theatrical and DVD runs, and that's opened up a fair amount of sequel chatter.
In the past, Seth Rogen has mentioned the possibility of a second Pineapple Express movie, with Judd Apatow - the producer of the first one - also believed to be interested. The latest meat on the proverbial bones, however, has been provided by James Franco, who spoke to MTV at the Sundance Film Festival, and revealed that all parties were interested in pressing ahead with a sequel (including director David Gordon Green).
Furthermore, he told MTV that "practical steps are being taken to actually make it happen", which is one of those glorious pieces of newspeak that could be taken to mean everything or nothing. The idea that there's an intention to get things moving is a positive step, however, and given the interest from those involved in the original, we'd reckon there's a solid chance of this one pressing ahead.
Here's the piece at MTV.
