Universal planning American Pie 4?
Jim's Dad
Could the American Pie gang be returning in a brand new cinematic feature?
Published on Feb 18, 2010
It's not our finest admission to reveal that we've battled our way through all four of the straight-to-DVD sequels that the American Pie franchise has suffered thus far. That's our level of dedication to the majesty of Eugene Levy, the one last remaining link with the original films. The last film in particular, The Book Of Love, was a low point for all involved, and left us thinking that the franchise had been allowed to become the modern day Police Academy series. Just without the bloke who makes all the funny noises.
It might be, at last, that Universal is beginning to feel the same way. Because the studio is, not for the first time, considering resurrecting the American Pie series at the cinema, and according to the L.A. Times, it's now in talks with a pair of screenwriters to pen American Pie 4.
The writers concerned are Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who have penned the Harold And Kumar movies thus far, and if they sign up, they'll be tasked with bringing us up to date with the key characters from the first three movies.
We'll keep you posted, but for now, here's the piece at the L.A. Times.
