New Spider-Man film gets release date, definitely in 3D

The rebooted Spider-Man franchise has its release date...
Published on Feb 10, 2010
Sony hasn't won itself a great deal of friends with the way that it's handled the rebooting of its Spider-Man movie franchise over the past few weeks, but the mists one way or another seem to be clearing.
Marc Webb - he who directed the terrific (500) Days Of Summer - is definitely down to direct, for instance. The identity of who will be playing the webslinger hasn't been confirmed (Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman is the latest candidate to be mooted), but at least there's a smart choice behind the camera while we await casting news.
Sony has now confirmed two more things, too. Firstly, the film will be arriving on July 3rd, 2012. And secondly, it is definitely going down the 3D path. It's not clear whether the 3D at this stage will be planned into the shoot or added in post-production. We just know for definite that it will be there.
More news as we get it...
