Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week

Gaye Birch

Lost and Supernatural arrive in the UK, Hustle finishes its run and there's a BBC3 show on vampires. Plus lots of films in the week ahead...

Published on Feb 4, 2010

The last season of the mind swamp that is Lost drifts to our shores tonight, February 5th, at 9:00pm on Sky1. Two back-to-back episodes of LA X start this sixth and final season. Which secrets will finally be revealed? And which will leave us twitching eternally in our sleep just... wondering? Rant, rage, and revel in revelations along with us in weekly reviews. (Counseling not provided, regrettably.)

Finishing off its sixth series this week is Hustle. The last episode in the short run of six airs on Monday, February 8th at 9:00pm on BBC1. This may be the tightest spot yet for the trickster troupe as a bout in prison threatens to cage the cons in The Hush Heist.

Telly tends to take with one virtual hand and give with the other, luckily for us addicts. The end of one series often heralds the start of the next and this week follows that timely TV tenet.

On Wednesday, February 10th at 9:00pm the 5th season of Supernatural starts up on Living with the season opener, Sympathy For The Devil followed at 10pm by episode 2, Good God, Y'All! If you're not yet acquainted with the program, we have a great introduction for you here. Check back to add your impressions to weekly reviews.

Also on Wednesday at 9:00pm, on BBC3 (thank the telly elves for iPlayer!) a documentary of sorts, hosted by not unphotogenic historian, Lisa Hilton, takes a look at the current fascination with all things vampiric and the origins of the obsession. Vampires: Why They Bite precedes the channel's airing of Interview With The Vampire at 10pm.

Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and a bit beyond. As always, if we missed anything interesting, have a shout in the comments, with our thanks.

How is "Any Which Way You Can" remotely geeky? I mean even "A Fish Called Wanda" is pushing it. And "Boogie Nights". Shouldn't this be titled "Random stuff on TV this week"?
