Avatar 2 details emerge

Will Avatar 2 be James Cameron's next film, and what can we expect from the sequel? Some answers have been emerging...
Published on Feb 2, 2010
When your film becomes the first in the world to pass the $2bn mark at the box office, then it's fair to suggest that there might be some pressure for a sequel. Furthermore, given that James Cameron himself has suggested that there are one or two sequels in his mind for Avatar, it's unsurprising that many are keen to push him back to his computers and cameras as soon as possible.
Cameron has a busy slate of pictures, of course, including Battle Angel, on which some work has reportedly begin. He's also been rumoured to be going back underwater for The Dive next, but that's not yet been confirmed, and firm details aren't known. It seems the 'smallest' of his current slate of films.
What is understood, however, as reported at MarketSaw, is that the pressure is very much on Cameron to move ahead with Avatar 2 sooner rather than later. Furthermore, details of the plot are beginning to emerge, with the site reporting that Avatar 2 will focus on a full-blown war. The sequels are also set to leave Pandora, although it's not clear yet as to where Cameron is planning to take the action (although we'd wager that Pandora will play a large part in Avatar 2).
The site also reports that Avatar 2 will definitely be made within the next four years, which would point towards Cameron potentially doing The Dive first.
Here's the full story from MarketSaw.
