Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week

Caprica arrives in the UK! Harry Hill's TV Burp is back! And there's an interesting new series about the web too. Plus! Movies! Lots of them!
Published on Jan 28, 2010
The TV leader this week has to be Caprica, the prequel series to the exceptional and much missed Battlestar Galactica. The drama, premiering its first part on Sky1 at 9:00pm, Tuesday 2nd February, takes place 50 years before the Cylon uprising. The pilot's second part airs immediately after at 10pm and both are repeated throughout the week, increasing your chances and reducing your excuses to see the BSG origin story from its first moments.
Making a welcome, crazily collared return to goggle boxes across the UK is Harry Hill's TV Burp. Harry takes the, uh, fizz out of silly and sincere telly and highlights the most mundane and bizarre moments on the small screen like no one else can. He's back at it starting Saturday 30th January at 7:00pm on ITV1, with repeats on Sunday on ITV2.
The Virtual Revolution, on BBC2 at 8:30pm, also on Saturday, January 30th, starts the first of a four part series looking at the massive, ever-expanding subject, contents, and interactivity issues of no less than the World Wide Web. The first foray is entitled The Great Levelling? The series, an Open University endeavour, will likely either be brilliant or something webophiles and the techno-savvy will perform their own Harry Hill on during repeats on Mondays at 11:20pm and throughout the remainder of the series.
Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and beyond. As always, if we missed anything interesting, have a shout in the comments, with our thanks.
Please also note: the ordinal numbers for dates will help you scan through this simple list with your browser's search function. Enter '30th' in your browser's Find box or window to highlight and/or tab through all movies shown on Saturday. Enjoy!
