Harry Potter and Clash Of The Titans to be in 3D

Simon Brew

Warner Bros jumps aboard the 3D bandwagon, with Clash Of The Titans and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows the latest beneficiaries…

Published on Jan 27, 2010

Just a few days ago, we were reporting that Warner Bros was considering whether it had the time to add 3D to this March's release of its Clash Of The Titans remake. Director Louis Letterier had noted that he didn't think they had enough time to do so, but given the sheer amount of hard cash that Avatar's 3D screenings have been bringing in, there's obviously some enthusiasm to embrace 3D wherever possible.

And while Warner Bros hasn't yet confirmed this, The Hollywood Reporter is now suggesting that not only will Clash Of The Titans be in 3D, but so will the last two Harry Potter films, the first of which is due this November.

Presumably to accommodate the time required to add 3D to Titans, the release of the film is set to be pushed back to April 2nd. Expect formal confirmation of this over the next couple of days. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I is still set for release on November 19th.

Mmm, I don't think it is possible to retro 3D Clash in two months so very large pinch of salt is in order I feel.

Rubbish. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. I hate paying extra to be annoyed in the cinema. I liked Avatar, (IN 2D) but the after-effects of its success will be a pain in the ass for years to come. The worst thing is that people who like 3D react to such rants by saying "Well you don't have to watch it." Er, fuck right off- I've been watching the Harry Potter films for longer than you've been shaving. URG.

Great. I've said it before, but I'll say it again: what with the yakking children, texting tweenies, commentating teenagers and all the idiots chatting away on cellphones, I've been going to movies less and less with each passing year. And, since I wear prescription eyeglasses, I still find the 3D glasses to be cumbersome, ineffective and, ultimately, headache inducing. Oh, well. At least I'll be saving a fair amount of money considering that DVDs often cost little more than the price of a single ticket. (The irony being that, some months ago, I heard a theatre owner wondering why the audiences were skewing younger and younger with each passing year...)

I don't mind 3d if done properly (like Avatar) but if its shoved in there last minute like it was in the last Harry Potter film then I won't bother with it.

As if going to the movies wasn't expensive enough, now we have "3D - The Movie Tax"

Fuck this shit! I was actually planning to see the last 2 HP movies, but I guess I have to just download it and save me the trouble. I just don't want to wear those stupid glasses, as if The Deathly Hallows won't make shitloads of money.
