New posters for The Last Airbender

It's been a while since M Night Shyamalan has enjoyed a solid commercial hit. While The Happening made money back for Fox, it was a long way from his The Sixth Sense peak, where Oscar nominations and lots of money were being thrust in his direction.

Here's hoping that this summer's upcoming The Last Airbender puts him back on something of a winning streak, though. I've enjoyed most of M Night's films to varying degrees (with the exception of The Happening, although that does have its fans), and his take on The Last Airbender is his most promising project in some time.

To whet the appetite slightly, Paramount has now released a pair of character posters from the film, one showing Aang (played by Noah Ringer), and the other with Zuko (played by Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel).

Meanwhile, The Last Airbender will be arriving in cinemas from July 2nd.
