Ryan Reynolds’ The Green Lantern is set to do battle with Peter Sarsgaard as Dr Hector Hammond…
Published on Jan 13, 2010
Filming for Warner Bros' movie of The Green Lantern is set to begin in March, and as such, the final pieces of the casting jigsaw are slotting into place. We already know that Ryan Reynolds is taking the title role (and then presumably shooting Deadpool in 2011 or 2012), and that Blake Lively is playing Carol Ferris.
But now? The Green Lantern has a villain to fight against.
For he'll be going toe-to-toe with Dr Hector Hammond, a man who discovers a meteor and gains psychic powers to wreak evil with. Furthermore, Hammond is going to be played by Peter Sarsgaard, which is a fine choice from where we're sitting. Sarsgaard will next be seen in the Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz vehicle Knight & Day, and last appeared in last year's Orphan.
The Green Lantern is being directed by Casino Royale and The Mask Of Zorro director Martin Campbell, and is set for release on June 17th 2011.
