Twilight: Breaking Dawn to be two movies, director speculation
Simon Brew
The final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, may yet spawn two movies if contract roadblocks can be sorted. And is Chris Weitz returning to the director’s chair?

You can't accuse Summit Entertainment of missing a trick. After casting a quick glance in the direction of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows for guidance, it's reportedly managing to get over the problem of running out of Twilight books to make movies out of by splitting the final novel into two.
As such, as Twilight New Moon leaves the box office takings for the first film in its wake, Summit is now looking to split the final book up. However, it's not quite that straightforward, as Summit only signed the Twilight cast up for four movies, and that means that if it presses ahead with five, then it's going to cost them some serious money. It would be fair to assume that the going rate for Robert Pattinson has increased an awful lot since he did his original deal to sign up for Twilight, and Kristen Stewart's bank balance would need quite a lot of swelling too.
In terms of who's set to direct Breaking Dawn in whatever form it arrives, Chris Weitz - the man who made New Moon - is the running favourite, but his scheduling may kybosh the idea. Weitz, reports Moviehole, is currently working on a different project, and yet Summit will be very keen to get Breaking Dawn moving as quickly as possible. At the very latest, it'll want it in cinemas for summer of 2011, we'd imagine.
David Slade, the director of Eclipse, will definitely not be on board for the next Twilight movie, apparently. We're left to guess as to the reasons why. But there's no guarantee that Weitz will be helming it either...
