Kick-Ass: the first trailer
Smon Brew
You might want to book a day off work next April, if the first trailer for Kick-Ass is anything to go by…
Published on Nov 11, 2009
Okay, count us officially excited. There's been a buzz building around Matthew Vaughn's big screen version of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass comicbook for some time now, and just a few days back, we were unveiling posters for the film and talking about the positive first reactions to early screenings.
Now? We've got the first official trailer for the film to salivate over as well. The film tells the story of Dave Lizewski, an "eccentric loner" who makes himself a superhero costume and heads off to fight crime, with not an immediate level of success. The complete lack of superpowers probably doesn't help there, but he nonetheless inspires lots of people to do the same thing. And that in turn attracts some less savoury characters, the best of which is Hit Girl, an 11-year-old who can do some serious damage with a sword.
The trailer makes the whole thing look like a hoot (and it's aided by dragging in the theme music from the majestic TV show Freaks & Geeks), and while it doesn't expand on too many characters (and we don't get to see Hit Girl yet), we take that as a good thing.
The film itself arrives on 16th April 2010, and you'll be reading a lot more about it on this site in the months ahead. Enjoy the trailer...
