Shutter Island: brand new trailer
Simon Brew
Lots of new footage from Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, as the second trailer for the film is released…
Published on Oct 4, 2009
We're still a bit gutted that we've not seen Shutter Island yet, given that Paramount decided to shunt the release of the film back from October to next February. Still, we are at least being given another glimpse of Martin Scorsese's forthcoming film, an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel. It stars, naturally enough, Leonardo DiCaprio, and is the first flat-out thriller that Scorsese has helmed since Cape Fear in the early 90s.
Shutter Island is a psychological thriller, if you've not guessed already, that nominally starts out as the mystery of a disappearing patient in a special hospital for the criminally insane. But given that Sir Ben Kingsley works there and is looking just a little bit sinister, it soon becomes apparent that there's something deeper going on.
It's a trailer that ups the psychological elements a notch, and does little to dampen our interest in the film. Oh, and is it just us who thinks that's Robert De Niro straight out of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein right near the end of the trailer too (it's actually Elias Koteas)? Probably...
Catch the trailer below, and the film itself will be arriving on 19th February 2010.
