27 questions nobody ever asks about the movies
Mark Pickavance & Simon Brew
We ask lots of questions every day about the movies. But why do this lot never seem to make the list?
Published on Oct 1, 2009
Most of us at some time have asked when a sequel to one film or another is coming out, or what a certain actor is up to next. But have any of us ever dared to ask any of the following?
- When's Tom Shadyac's next film coming out?
- What's that film that takes place in Eddie Murphy's head called?
- Is there any truth to the rumour that the next Transformers is a reworking of Shakespeare's Macbeth?
- Is there a fullscreen version of Star Trek coming out on DVD?
- Why not let Joel Schumacher reboot the Superman franchise?
- Can the Jonas Brothers do the soundtrack to the next Terminator movie?
- Is it true that Ridley Scott is doing another cut of Blade Runner?
- Can Arnold Schwarzenegger play Mr Freeze again in the next Batman movie?
- Has James Cameron ever seen Heaven's Gate?
- Here's an idea for the next James Bond: why not Macaulay Culkin?
- Why don't they let Pierce Brosnan have a go at a new movie version of Phantom Of The Opera?
- How about a new version of Breakfast At Tiffany's with Paris Hilton?
- Does Patrick Stewart still call Jonathan Frakes 'Number 1'?
- Can't they remake Ferris Bueller with Zac Efron in it?
- 25 years on, is David Lynch any closer to understanding Dune?
- Enough waiting already: where's Rush Hour 4?
- What's the big twist in Sex And The City 2 going to be?
- Exactly why hasn't Tom Hanks done another Splash movie?
- Did Billy Zane keep The Phantom costume?
- They're not really making Scream 4 for the money are they?
- Will they ever do a movie of The Sims?
- Are they going to re-release Gigli in 3D soon?
- Are any of the vehicles in The A-Team road legal?
- Is it true that Bruce Willis is in the final Harry Potter movie, for a reunion with Alan Rickman?
- Why did they spend so much money on the script of Transformers 2?
- Did Barbra Streisand turn down Tootsie?
- Are they going to make a Kim Bauer movie soon? She's the young female action role model that the world is missing, surely.

Do you have a quota of articles that you need to fulfil, or it's the stocks for you? Because that is literally the only reason I can think of for such a waste-of-time, unfunny list such as this. Sorry guys, but there are times where I really wonder what the hell you are thinking.

Yeah, this feature is pretty pointless.

What I wonder is how they only managed to come up with 27... surely they could have thought of another 3 inane pointless questions that no one would consider asking about movies so they could have a a nice round number... Or are they on some Dan Brown esque quest to do with 3 to the power of 3.

Guys Guys Guys... I assume it's guys... Perhaps wrongly, but I'll take my chances. It's the frickin' internet... Of course it's pointless. If you want a point, go watch Newsnight re-runs or the Parliament channel. If you want to bitch about movies and have a bit of a giggle, see you back here tomorrow. Okay?

@TVDust - no, no no. I'm fine with bitching about movies, I'm fine with having a "bit of a giggle" - in fact, both are things inherently important to me. But "it's the internet" is no excuse for weak-sauce, useless content on any site.

Don't you ever get tired of slagging off sex in the city, so it doesn have a car chase or guns or a woman that doesn look like the back end of a bus big deal some of us actually think it's ok , people who have an educated opinion happen to think the storyline and the script aint so bad fick me if your gonna slag something slag something genuinely crap not something which is just slightly gender specific.

@clementine
Ehh... As much as I hate this article, it's not like it singled out SatC. Why are you so annoyed? I actually really like the show, watched the whole thing (with my girlfriend admittedly), but it's not for everyone. And "What will the big twist be?" was hardly a damning critique. I know I get worked up about stuff on here, but come on. :)

'fracture... By, 'it's the internet' I meant, it's ephemeral... It doesn't really matter, some things work, some things don't - the joy of the internet is you can keep throwing shit til some of it sticks.
