Neve Campbell signs up for Scream 4, Rodriguez preps Spy Kids 4

Scream 4 finally gets Neve Campbell on board, and the Spy Kids are set to return for a fourth outing too…
Published on Sep 25, 2009
For a long time, Neve Campbell it seems was resistant to the idea of returning to the Scream franchise, and the new trilogy of movies that the Weinstein Company is planning to make was looking like it'd have to move on without her. Of the cast of the first three Scream films, both David Arquette and Courteney Cox had already agreed to jump back aboard the franchise, and Kevin Williamson - who penned the screenplay to Scream 1 and 2 - is scribbling away on a new script.
Now it's been revealed, though, that Neve Campbell will indeed be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, the central character in the Scream movies, and that the plan now is for the first of three new films to go before the camera next April or May. There's still no director in place, but the Weinstein Company are trying to lure Wes Craven - himself just putting the finishing touches to 25/8 - back behind the camera.
Meanwhile, as part of the same raft of announcements that saw Campbell's return to Scream being confirmed, it's also been revealed that Robert Rodriguez will start filming a fresh entry in the Spy Kids franchise next year. Spy Kids 4 will, as with the third film, be in 3D, and the shoot for that is expected to start in March.
Variety has more on all of this here.
