The Expendables delayed, trailer leaked
Simon Brew
Good news and bad news from the world of Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables: the film’s been put back, but a bootleg of the teaser trailer has appeared online…
Published on Sep 16, 2009
Regular Den Of Geek readers might have picked up on my enthusiasm for Sylvester Stallone's upcoming The Expendables. It's not an unconditional love, I should note, but any cast that includes Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eric Roberts, Bruce Willis, Randy Coutre, Ivan Drago Dolph Lundgren and Mickey Rourke is inevitably going to get my attention.
Firstly, though, the bad news. Having noticed how much money films released in August now seem to make - Inglourious Basterds, G.I. Joe, District 9 and The Final Destination have all taken in decent moolah - the decision has been made to shunt The Expendables' release from April to August. This is a tragic piece of news, that all of sudden means we're still nearly a year away from seeing Stallone and his merry men shoot the screen to shit. New release date: 20th August 2010. Bah.
To offset this, the first trailer for the film was screened at the Venice Film Festival, and it's subsequently leaked online. We can't imagine that it's going to stay online for very long, but it's your first chance to glimpse the first proper preview from the film. Whisper it, though: it doesn't appear to be that impressive a trailer...
The trailer, at the time of posting, could be found here.
