Silent Hill 2 is creeping up

Roger Avary returns to a franchise nobody knew existed after the pedestrian performance of the 2006 VG adaptation...

Roger Avary is to return to the Silent Hill that made only a medium impression in 2006. The writer is pairing up with Samuel Hadida of Davis Films to make a sequel to the video-game adaptation, which grossed $47 million domestically and earned less-than-rave reviews.
Davis Films will take on the sequel after Resident Evil 4 wraps next year. Tristar have not confirmed yet that it will return as distributor for the second movie.
Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Laurie Holden starred in the 2006 movie, which told - as does the original video-game - the tale of Rose Da Silva searching for a clue to her her daughter's inexplicable psychological trauma in a semi-abandoned ex-industrial town.

Actually, Harry Mason was the protagonist in the first Silent Hill game.
Anyway, the first SH movie looked amazing, it's just a shame that the story and acting were terrible. Still, I'll go and see this regardless.

I'm a big SH fan. The film looked great and I was definitely entertained...up until they reached the church and it completely fell apart. All the isolated atmosphere, boom, blasted away to be replaced by a load of tiresome ranty fruitcakes and a finale totally at odds with the psychological-over-gore aspect of the games. If they want to do a sequel, I wish them luck.

Personally I love the first two games and thought hte movie was probably one of the best video game adaptations to date. It captured the spirit of the games by not being afraid to have a go here, do this, go somewhere else mentality that other game adaptations seem terrified to acknowledge. It just felt like a video game adaptation whilst being a beautifully shot horror movie. The acting was OK, the gore excellent- I'm up for a sequel even if DoG aren't!

It's actually happening? I'm SO SO SO excited! I adore Silent Hill, and the first film was definitley one of the best video game adaptations. I could watch it again and again.
