Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week
Gaye Birch
Gaye lets an Uzi loose on the dross of UK TV, leaving behind only the noblest geek gems...
Published on Sep 3, 2009
Tonight at 10:00 there's relief and shock in Bon Temps as last week's fire cools off and a babysitting job opens up. Amy loses her glow and reveals a little more of her personality as she takes Jason from a bad situation to a worse one in Fourth Man In The Fire on True Blood on FX.
The episode airs again at 12:10, but before that is another show worth being lazy with the remote. Keep your telly tuned to FX and Burn Notice at 11:10pm for Broken Rules, episode 7 of the first season. The show about a pink slipped (P45ed) special agent also has The Mighty Bruce Campbell to its credits. And if a mid-season dive in feels awkward, FX runs the first season starting at the pilot from Saturday 5 September at noon, a perfect chance to a wade in to this modern MacGyver/Equalizer mix set in Miami.
What does it take to scare a murderer? Annie has a plan to get revenge on her fiancé/killer and Mitchell may be lost forever to his biter brethren in Being Human, Thursday 10 September at 10:35pm on BBC1.
BBC kicks off Beatles Week with a series of programs, some featuring never-before-aired Abbey Road recording sessions and rare footage of the Fab Four. The Beatles On Record warms up proceedings on Saturday, 5 September at 8:35pm on BBC2 with a repeat performance on Sunday, the 6th at 9:00pm on BBC4. The documentary charts the phenomenal success of John, Paul, George and Ringo from 1962 Liverpool to fame the world over.
This week's films include a seldom aired Beatles flick and some other very choice viewing over the next 7 days. If there's anything we've missed that you feel fellow readers might enjoy, add your picks to the comments. Because it's nice to share. Sharing is good.
