God, how shite would it have been if Peter Cushing was picked to play Grand Moff Tarkin? Wait a second...

Here's a few more...Cay Grant turned down James Bond in Dr.No (doh!), Sean Connery turned down Gandelf in LOTR (double-doh!) and Michael Madsen turnd down Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction for a part in Wyatt Earp (triple-extra-mega-doh!)

Re: 50 films that nearly had very different casts

Note: Connery also (reputedly) turned down a 15% gross deal to play Gandelf because he 'didn't understand the script'.The deal would have earned him about $400million...lol

I had heard that Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I.) was originally offered the role of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He had contract obligations to Magnum though, and had to pass. (Possible rumor, haven't verified that)

Could have, would have, should have, but very glad they didn't!! However, since the reboot virus spreads wider than the swine flu, maybe these options will be reconsidered....

Man, it would be SO weird if any of these actually happened.

In another reality they have.

This list is whack. For one, Will Smith is famously the "other Neo" who would have starred in The Matrix had he not been making Wild Wild West. (and later admitted he would've "f**ked it up") And where's Christopher Walken as Han Solo? Should have included more "oops!" roles like Connery/Gandalf mentioned above, Harrison Ford not in The Sixth Sense, or Alec Baldwin not in The Fugitive.

The King in Midnight Cowboy? Holy crap! That would have changed movie and music history!

Surely it was Captain Apollo, not Commander Adama?

What about Ronald Reagan being second choice for Casablanca ? There's HUGE one that you missed ! And man with Midnight Cowboy wasn't Burt Ward ( Robin from 60s Batman ) considered for Dustin Hoffman role but had to turn it down due to conctractual obligations ? Christopher Walken as Christopher Walken as Han Solo ?!? As super human beatles freak here's one alot don't know, Richard Lester who directed Hard Day's Night and went on to direct Superman II, wanted John Lennon to have cameo in that movie, he had some sort comedy thing he had worked out with Superman saving him but he died before it happen which was good thing since how much in bad taste would of been to seen Superman save guy on screen who's just been shot in real life ?!? Fuck ... :-(

What about the first choices for the role of John McClain in Die Hard? They originally asked/considered Arnold Schwartznegger, Sylvester Stallone, Richard Gere, and Burt Reynolds. I would've loved to have seen Arnie or Sly in the air ducts.

First I've ever read about Michael Biehn being considered for the T-1000, Cameron was originally considering the role for Billy Idol a lot of the original concept work is based off Idols look. Wasn't Patrick Stewart considered for Mr Freeze as well?

I can actually , realistically imagine alot of these in these roles, albeit portrayed possibly differently than what reached our screens, but I quite often imagine different people playing major roles , I have had Tom Baker as James Bond and Peter Cushing in Time Machine ,(slight reversal there) yep I really am a freak with a fetish for the crumblies *change the page now, quickly*

i hear Patrick Swayze AND Bruce Campbell also auditioned for the role of Han Solo, but were turned down by Lucas for the more seasoned acting abilities of Harrison Ford. I can see Campbell as him but PATRICK SWAYZE? WTF!
