Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week
Gaye Birch
The Geek bank holiday begins here, with all reality-TV programming surgically removed...
Published on Aug 28, 2009
On True Blood tonight at 10pm and 10 past midnight, relationships and real estate rights are challenged. If that sounds a bit mundane, mix in vampires, an exorcism and naked romps through woods and you get episode 7, Burning House Of Love, which you'll find on the FX channel.
Feeling fit and up to a marathon this Sunday, 30 August? BBC 2 is showing back-to-back episodes of the six first season shows of The Office. Clock in at 9:00pm for a straight run past midnight. The shows will be intro-ed by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and various cast members as well as celeb admirers and guest stars of the brilliant mockumentary.
The next Doctor Who Greatest Moments has prying eyes for The Enemies. At 8:00pm Thursday, 3 September on BBC 3, Derek Jacobi joins other Whoniverse evil-doers only a minion could love for exclusive interviews, recollections and details of their dasterdly plots and undoings.
What happens when a well-intentioned vampire trying to cut back on the blood intake befriends a neighbourhood boy? Well, modern day equivalents of pitchforks are at the ready in Being Human, also on Thursday, 3 September on BBC 1 at 10:35pm.
Our list of films this week may be a smidgen shorter as Gaye fell asleep at the keyboard while compiling, the result of a long, hard week. (Really. She has the spacebar chin imprint to prove it.)
This list takes you into Bank Holiday Monday and a bit beyond and when that dent wears away, we're sure she'll be accommodating and bring this list through next Thursday, as you've grown accustomed to. So, pop back after the weekend for updates and, as always, check your local schedules for confirmation and avoid tots of the geek inclined tuning in for Horton and finding The Hitcher.
UPDATE 31/08/09: The film list now goes through and including Thursday, 3 September. (And the chin dent is practically a mere memory now. I may miss it.)
