Re: New images from SurrogatesBetween this and "Gamer" (which will flop) most of the themes in Avatar will already be explored by December. Also, is it just me, or is T3 only hated in online geek circles, much like the perfectly decent X Men 3? | |

New images from Surrogates
Simon Brew
Bruce Willis takes centre stage, as sci-fi thriller Surrogates edges closer to release. And here are the latest pictures from it…
There's quite a lot of science fiction arriving between now and Christmas on the big screen, as the genre enjoys its highest profile in some time. And while most of the attention and dissection in the past week has inevitably focussed on James Cameron's Avatar, we're actually weeks away from the Jonathan Mostow-directed Surrogates.
Mostow is an underrated director in this writer's view, with Breakdown one of the very best thrillers of the 1990s. U-571, in spite of its cavalier approach to history, was well put together, and I had more time than most for the third Terminator movie, too. Now, he's turned his attention to the graphical novel by Robert Venditti, Surrogates.
Surrogates is about a world where humans don't venture out, and instead send surrogate robots to do their bidding. But a series of murders forces one cop - played by Bruce Willis, who at one stage sports a haircut that's Harrison-Ford-in-Presumed-Innocent-good - to leave his home for the first time in years to find out what's what.
Earlier this year, a trailer was released (and a fairly expansive one, that gave away seemingly large chunks of narrative), and now a series of images from the film have also been unleashed. The photos seem a bit of a mixed bag to us, and feel free to click on them to make them magically bigger if you want to explore them further.
The film arrives on September 25th.
