Kate Mara on the new Fantastic Four

Kate Mara has been chatting about the Fantastic Four reboot, and her role in it...

Kate Mara is one of the primary cast members in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, directed by Josh Trank, and has recently been chatting about the film and what fans can expect from it. Talking to IGN, she admitted that "I don’t know very much about it, which is weird but true! All I know is that it’s going to be a very different take on the film, which people may not expect".

Mara went on to say that "I’m not really familiar with the comic books,I picked up a few when I got the part. I think we’re making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I trust Josh Trank’s vision as I was a huge fan of Chronicle".

Her comments may not be music to the ears of some, but her honesty is refreshing. Her comments aren't too far removed from Dane DeHaan's regarding The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last year, where he admitted he wasn't a comic book guy but felt he didn't feel it was essential to the job. Given that DeHaan is one of the best things in the new Spider-Man film, he might just be right.

I saw the Spider-man 2 film and Dane Dehaan was one of the biggest detractions of it so I guess he should have read some of the stories before playing the part. While I think Andrew Garfield is great as Parker/Spider-man this film was quite a disappointment in regard to the story.

Kate Mara is a much better choice for Sue Storm than Jessica Alba was but the rest of the cast has me scratching my head...will it work. I was a big fan of the Jack Kirby and John Byrne FF stories so I guess this film will not be how I see the four.

Joss Whedon, who actually wrote comic story lines is the only one so far to make complete success out of the Avengers. Iron-man is a success because Robert Downey Jr was the perfect choice to play the role.

I agree on all except Kate Mara. I think she could play Sue Storm without flaw. Miles Teller I don't know, never seen anything with him in it.

Totally disagree as they are diverting too much from the source. The Hulk movies both diverted from the source and they went down in flames.

My problem with Jamie Bell is he doesn't fit the part. Ben Grimm is supposed to be a brawny, athletic type before he is the Thing. Bell is extremely small.

They need to go back to the source, when the FF was truly best selling. That time period was Jack Kirby's run from issue 44-100 or the later period by John Byrne. I heard they want to make this movie a take on the Ultimate FF which never sold worth crap until they made that Zombie FF alternate group story.
