Ridley Scott set for Brave New World?

The classic Aldous Huxley sci-fi novel gets added to Ridley Scott’s already-congested slate...
Published on Aug 6, 2009
Jobs in the world we'd hate? Our latest suggestion would be Ridley Scott's publicist. Fresh from having to field a volley of enquiries about the director's return to the Alien franchise, within a week, the man appears to be circling yet another project. And this time, it's the long-mooted adaptation of Aldous Huxley's science fiction novel, Brave New World.
It's been reported over at RiskyBiz that Scott is setting up an adaptation of the book at Universal, along with Leonardo DiCaprio. The pair are believed to be sharing producing duties, and the report states that Scott is eyeing the project as something to direct, and DiCaprio is looking to star. The next step will be a screenplay, and that's in the hands of Apocalypto's Farhad Safinia.
It's still a project very much in the early stages of development, and much will hinge on what state Safinia's screenplay arrives in.
It's another ball for Ridley Scott to juggle anyway, who currently has over 20 projects in various stages of development, according to IMDBPro. His main focus right now is the Russell Crowe-starring Robin Hood, which is due next summer. And then? We thought it might be Alien next, but in truth, it's anyone's guess...
