Terminator: Salvation gets DVD and Blu-ray release date

Mark 23rd November in your diaries if you’re looking to pick up the DVD or Blu-ray of the fourth Terminator film….

We can't guarantee that it'll be hitting shelves at the same time across the planet, but in the UK, the DVD and Blu-ray release for Terminator: Salvation has been set for 23rd November 2009. There appears, at this stage, to be just one release planned, rather than a single and double disc choice to make.
And there might be quite a lot riding on the release. Terminator: Salvation has to rank as one of the commercial disappointments of the summer thus far, at least based on US figures where its take of $123m has left it trailing the vast majority of other major summer releases.
What's saved the franchise's future, though, has been the overseas take, which has added $232m to the total, bringing the fourth Terminator film's grand haul to $355m. To put that into context, The Hangover is being touted as the major breakout hit of the summer, but that's a film that's failed to find a sizeable audience outside of the States. Thus, The Hangover currently sits at $297m, $222m of which has come from the US.
If there is to be a Terminator 5 as planned, though, lots of copies of the DVD and Blu-ray need to be shifted to make that happen. With many e-tailers in the UK now accepting pre-orders, we wait and see whether the film can bring in enough further shekels on disc to make the next film happen.
Our guess: yes it can.
