Dodgeball 2 in the works?
Simon Brew
The comedy gold that was Dodgeball might be returning to the big screen again, with a brand new sequel reported to be in the planning stages…

If we're making a list of the downright funniest movies of the decade, then surely Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, has to be near the top of it. Granted, much of the humour is gleefully dumb, but that doesn't mean it isn't funny.
And it's also a film brimming with great characters and moments. Rip Torn's "If you can dodge a wrench" tutorial? Chuck Norris? Lance Armstrong? Ben Stiller's excellent villain? The marvellously shit commentary, complete with Gary Cole? Plus lots of people having balls thrown at their mush? Seriously: what's not to like.
There were rumours when the film originally emerged and hit big that a sequel might be in the works, although as time passed, those rumours were generally forgotten about. And yet there could, all of a sudden, be fresh life in them.
Yahoo! is reporting this morning that Ben Stiller has been trying to persuade Lance Armstrong to sign up for a second Dodgeball movie, which is set to, according to the site, "be infused with cycling influences". Bluntly, all we want from it is someone with a ball throwing it hard at another human being. If that man is Lance Armstrong, then so be it.
There's still nothing concrete in place, of course, but Stiller has shown no aversion to sequels in the past (indeed, he's going to be starting work on Little Fockers soon). And of all of his films, while some will, of course, shout Zoolander, Dodgeball is the one I personally would love to see another instalment of.

Rip Torn in Dodgeball. Sadly, he's unlikely to be back...
