The Informant trailer

What do you get if you had a true whistleblower story, Matt Damon, and Steven Soderbergh? A comedy called The Informant, it seems…

Steven Soderbergh has directed Matt Damon three times already with the Ocean's trilogy, and their fourth collaboration, The Informant, is arriving in cinemas later this year. It's the story of Mark Whitacre, the man who became the most high profile whistleblower in the history of corporate America, but Soderbergh hasn't taken the most obvious route with the material.
For The Informant, based on the book by Kurt Eichenwald, is being played for laughs, so anyone expecting something akin to Michael Mann's stunning The Insider is probably in the wrong ballpark.
Still, the first trailer for the film does give as an idea as to just what we're in for. Set at first to Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries, it soon pans out into something more akin to a goofball comedy.
Whether it can sustain a full film of Damon in a comedy lead isn't entirely clear from the trailer, but you can start to make your own mind up by clicking below...
The film comes out on 9th October in the US, and 6th November in the UK.
