Guillermo del Toro on Justice League Dark
Is Justice League Dark still on track? Guillermo del Toro has provided an update.
Guillermo del Toro's desire to make a Justice League Dark movie has been known for some time now, but along with a number of his other dream projects there's the sense that it would be a tricky sell and something of a long shot when it comes to being made.
When NBC commissioned David S Goyer's Constantine TV series, it raised further doubts of the project coming to life, as some saw it as a sign that Warner Bros had decided to shelve the Justice League Dark project. That said, it's worth noting that the fact that the spin-off Gotham show is happening doesn't necessarily mean that future Batman films would be jeopardised.
Still, del Toro was asked about the perceived threat Constantine poses to his Justice League Dark project, and his response was quite positive. "We talked about it at DC and Warner and I feel confident the two properties can exist at the same time", he told IGN. "I think that DC is trying to create a great universe of characters, and expand it and make it clear to the audience that it's a landscape of characters, and not just one that's dependant on one or two characters".
That's not a definitive answer as to whether the film is any closer to being made, but at least it's some kind of reassurance that the Constantine show doesn't mean the film is dead. That's a start.
