Dwayne Johnson to star in San Andreas
The Rock is heading to California, to star in the upcoming disaster movie, San Andreas...
First things first: San Andreas is sadly not an adaptation of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Instead, it's a disaster movie about a fault line that lies beneath California. The last time a big natural disaster hit California on screen we got the Tommy Lee Jones-headlined Volcano, a film whose shoehorning in of a moral at the end still makes our jaw smash to the floor.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, as we well know, is a man who likes to keep himself busy and San Andreas is the latest project he's attached to. It's a New Line production and will see Mr Johnson play a helicopter pilot involved in a frantic search to locate his daughter following a rather nasty earthquake in California.
The film will be directed by Brad Peyton, who worked with Johnson on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The movie is set to shoot in the spring. And given that 2015 has a shortage of big movies, that's just when San Andreas is set to be scheduled for. As big a star as Johnson is, it's somewhat optimistic that it'll perform well given the stiff competition it'll face in 2015. Don't be surprised if some release date shuffling takes place before we finally get to see the movie.
