Sigourney Weaver: not in Ghostbusters 3
Simon Brew
Don’t go looking for Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters 3, it seems. Nor Ripley in the Alien prequel…

Well that's a blow. As momentum gathers around the third Ghostbusters movie, for which the script is being written right now, it's been fuelled further by the news that many of the old cast will be returning to pass over the torch in a third film.
Yet Sigourney Weaver will not be among them.
Talking to SciFiSquad, Weaver was asked what the relationship of her character, Dana Barrett, would be with Peter Venkman in the new film, and she responded with the words "non-existent". Whilst not ruling out being involved with the film altogether, she goes on to say in the interview, "No, I don't expect to have anything to do with it, although I wish them well."
In the same interview, she discusses the Alien prequel project, too, noting that, "I don't think that Ripley could appear in an Alien prequel because she doesn't have any access to the creature until the first Alien."
It's well worth reading the full interview, and you can find it right here.
