Michael Sheen lined up as Bond villain?

Could Blofeld be returning to the world of 007? And is Michael Sheen set to star opposite Daniel Craig?
Published on Jun 17, 2009
Earlier this week, we reported that Peter Morgan had been lined up to co-write the 23rd James Bond adventure, which is currently expected to land in 2011. Morgan, of course, wrote The Damned United, The Queen and Frost/Nixon, each of which gave a meaty role to Michael Sheen.
Well it seems that the Sheen/Morgan dream team could be rolled out again if a report in The Guardian is to be believed. For it's reporting that Michael Sheen is "in negotiations" to play Blofeld in the next film.
Given how keen the Daniel Craig Bond movies have been thus far to avoid any link with the 007 adventures of the past - even leaving the iconic music to the end credits - this would be a hell of a statement of intent. It'd be interesting to see just how Blofeld could fit into the dark and moody modern world of Craig's Bond, and you do wonder if they may just lighten things up just a tad from Quantum Of Solace and have a little more fun with the franchise.
Blofield, incidentally, last appeared in the Roger Moore adventure For Your Eyes Only, where he was played - but not credited - by John Hollis (technically, Max von Sydow played him in Never Say Never Again a couple of years later, but that's not regarded as official Bond). We wait and see if news of his revival proves to be true...

Will Michael Sheen be the next owner of this little fella?
