Spielberg "Cracks Story" For Indiana Jones 5

Cameron K McEwan

"Steven just said that he cracked the story on it"

Work on the next Indiana Jones film is being geared up now that the story is in place, according to a certain Transformers star.

Published on Jun 16, 2009

In a recent interview with BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba, actor Shia LaBeouf revealed that work on the next Indiana Jones film has begun. LaBeouf played the part of Mutt Williams, Indy's son, in last year's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

When asked about the fifth film in the Indiana Jones franchise the Transformers actor said: "Steven [Spielberg] just said that he cracked the story on it, I think they're gearing that up"

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull performed stoutly at the box office last year being beaten only by The Dark Knight in worldwide receipts. In a recent report it was announced that Harrison Ford, the actor who plays the titular adventurer, was the highest paid actor last year receiving £43.3M for one film alone, easily beating off Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Johnny Depp.

At the moment, Spielberg has finished filming on Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn whilst he is in the midst of pre-production on Lincoln, a civil war drama looking at the sixteenth President of the United States. George Lucas is currently overseeing the production of Red Tails and the Star Wars live-action series. Meanwhile Harrison Ford is currently filming the comedy Morning Glory with nothing officially on his slate afterwards. This would leave 2012 as the most probable (not to mention earliest) date for the fifth outing for the archaeologist.

If they "cracked the story" as well as did they on Indy 4 then PASS. Also Ford be nearly 70 by then? Hopefully, like 4, this takes so long it never sees the light of day. Also big prediction: Avatar is 2009's Phantom Menace.

I'm considering boycotting this on the fact that on my current wage it would take around 3000 years to earn what Ford did on the last piece of crap.

Looking forward to seeing what they come up with. I'm hopeful they'll improve on Crystal Skull now they're 'back in the saddle' somewhat.

I refer you to the South Park episode, The China Problem, for my opinion.

I have a lot of love for the Indiana Jones movies (1-3), but Crystal Skull was complete garbage, a total failure - even though enough dummies paid to watch to make this news happen.

LOL; matimage. I guess I'll always be a purist about these things and while they gave me the OTP I wanted, Indy 4 was only slightly less dissapointing than the Star Wars Prequels. I can't imagine that Indy 5 would be any better.

Excellent! Loved Kingdom, excellent way to keep the saga going after the years in between. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I guess they're making up for all those years of lost time. They really should have made the recent film in the early '90's. Dispite what Spielberg says regarding the last film, it really didn't resemble the 80's trilogy. The chemistry between Indy and Marian was no longer there and the villians paled in comparison to the old films. It was probably the best they could do after two decades removed from it, though a well-done retread is still nothing more than that. It's the Indy series' Terminator 3.
