Flight Of The Navigator remake planned

Disney heads back to one of its 80s hits, to try and wring some more cash out of it. Meanwhile, the world weeps…

Great. Adding further fuel to the belief that Hollywood has simply run out of fresh properties to turn into big blockbusters, it's been revealed this morning that Disney has begun work on a remake of its 1980s kids sci-fi flick, Flight Of The Navigator.
Sigh.
Slashfilm reports that the original's executive producer, John Hyde, is aboard this new version, but no director or timeframe has as yet been put in place. There is a writer on board though, with Brad Copeland being employed to pen a script. Copeland is best known for writing on shows like Arrested Development and My Name Is Earl. He's least known for writing the horrible John Travolta-Tim Allen hit Wild Hogs.
We're just going to go and find a small, quiet corner to go and have a cry in.
