Scorsese eyes DiCaprio for Sinatra, Universal want Depp

Martin Scorsese determined that Leo never have time to work for anyone else...

In an update to Latino Review's news on the Frank Sinatra biopic, it's claimed that Martin Scorsese has Leonardo DiCaprio in mind to play Ol' Blue Eyes in the forthcoming story of the great man's life.
If DiCaprio plays Sinatra, it will be the fifth filmic collaboration between the director and actor in seven years, after Gangs Of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and this October's Shutter Island.
LR note, however, that Universal are apparently interested that Johnny Depp take the role.
Personally I remain convinced that Depp has moulded his career as a character-actor so thoroughly that he may find it hard to carve himself out a pension in relatively 'straight' parts, and seeing those cherubic features behind a machine gun in the trailers for Public Enemies leaves me with that sinking feeling that accompanied him being blown off the screen by Al Pacino in Donnie Brasco.
Of course, Depp's no stranger to biopic - Brasco was a real-life story, as was Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Blow, Ed Wood and (this is a bit of a reach) From Hell.
