Adam Sandler movie news round-up

News Simon Brew 13 Mar 2013 - 06:22

The latest on Grown Ups 2, plus Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are to team up for a third time...

Call us optimists, but we live in hope that Adam Sandler may eventually either go back to the days when he was taking on more challenging roles, or else recapture what brought him to popularity in the first place. Some of Sandler's earlier comedies continue to hold up well. Jack And Jill and That's My Boy are about as bad as they've got, though. We charted the man's slow decline here.

We've got news, then, on his next two projects here. Firstly, the first poster for Grown Ups 2 has appeared. Grown Ups is Sandler's most commercially successful film worldwide, and the sequel is with us this summer. Given that the first poster has been unleashed, we'd imagine that the first trailer isn't too far behind.

More promisingly, Sandler is to reunite with Drew Barrymore for a third time. Of their previous collaborations, 50 First Dates might have been a weaker, slightly nastier retread of Groundhog Day, but The Wedding Singer remains a strong, funny romantic comedy.

The new film will also be a romantic comedy, and it's thus far untitled. But The Wedding Singer director Frank Coraci has also been hired, and that might just be a step in the right direction too. More news as we get it...

Adam Sandler round up! Seriously? Is it a slow news week? I'd rather a Rottweiler bite my ball bag than watch this turdfest.

Sandlers already done his best stuff (The Wedding Singer & Happy Gilmore). All the rest is b*ll*cks. I wish he would just die now.

When I read Adam Sandler movie round up I thought it was a plea to gather up his films and start the burning - Now I'm just disappointed, who wants to do it anyway?

Was it only me who though Grown Ups was utter garbage? It wasn't funny, there was no depth in the plot, and it made me wonder why they made the film.
The good news about this article is that he is reuniting with Barrymore. Wedding Singer is a classic, and 50 First Dates is still entertaining. Hopefully he can bring something similar to those good ol' days back

Much as I can' stand him or his movies, I wouldn't wish death upon him no matter how many fart jokes his films contain

Totally agree on Grown Ups. I don't even think it has a script I just think Sandler went on holiday with his big shot friends and filmed it.

He's been coasting for years... I got through 10 minutes of Grown-Ups before switching off... Will always love him for Happy Gilmore though. Happy Rules!

Hmm... Not enough 'derp'

Punch Drunk Love is easily his best film. I'm partial to Funny People also.

If Adam Sandler counts as geek movie news, then I darn well hope you'll report on the Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter campaign tomorrow...

Ha! Could have sworn the Veronica Mars story wasn't on your front page when I left that comment. Perhaps a problem with IE's refresh skillz or lack thereof. Should never have doubted you, DoG...

I suggest we start a Kickstarter to get Adam Sandler forcibly committed.
