JJ Abrams on Star Trek Into Darkness
JJ Abrams has been chatting about the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, and where Alice Eve fits into it...
It's easy to overlook what an achievement JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot was, given the fact that the cinematic Trek franchise had pretty much died a death with Star Trek: Nemesis. Not only did Abrams' film successfully provide backstories to well known characters and set up a universe for them to exist in alongside the existing films, but the movie was also one of the best blockbusters of recent years. Not for nothing is Star Trek Into Darkness one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the coming summer.
JJ Abrams has recently been chatting about the last film and the next one. In specific relation to the Klingons, who were cut out of 2009's Star Trek, he said that “their role in this is definitely that of advisory and you'll see how that plays out.”
He also went on to discuss Alice Eve's character in Star Trek Into Darkness, Carol Marcus. “(Kirk) meets her fairly early on and again she plays a science officer, she's someone who is a part of the adventure", Abrams told MTV. "I think Chris [Pine] is right, because it's very much an action adventure movie and once that gets going it's a very difficult thing to park the story. So it's very difficult to do a romantic interlude. Her role is important, she wouldn't be in the movie otherwise.”
