Jason Momoa set for Guardians Of The Galaxy?

Could the one-time Conan be signing up to Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy?

Gradually, it looks as if the cast list for James Gunn's upcoming Marvel movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy, is starting to take shape. Following the casting announcement of Chris Pratt, it appears as though another key part has been filled, with Jason Momoa apparently set to play Drax the Destroyer.

Momoa was most recently seen in Bullet To The Head (and he was arguably the best thing in it), but is best known for playing Khal Drogo in Game Of Thrones and Conan in the reboot from a couple of years ago. He's an imposing screen presence and a solid actor, so should work well as part of the ensemble cast.

Momoa flew out to London to screen test on Wednesday after Isiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista and Brian Patrick had also apparently tested for the role. And while there hasn't been official confirmation, it's being reported that Momoa was offered the part of Drax. More news on the film as we get it.

Surely he is also best known as playing Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis :D

Beat me too it, Very odd that the fact Stargate Atlantis was not mentioned.

If we're not having Michael Rooker then I can accept Momoa.

I like how his career is developing and he looks like he's shaping up to big action star in the next few years. Marvel could well be ahead of the curve again with it's casting.

It's where he started, but that's kind of like saying Bruce Lee is best known for his role as Kato.

I agree with the others. This is shaping up nicely. I'd love to see Drax vs. Thor on screen.

Nope! His very first acting gig was Bay Watch Hawaii!

I've only seen Conan, so if THAT'S any indication, then hopefully THIS is his first acting gig. Cuz the only acting was done by Ron Perlman. And what was t Payne doing on Conan? Might as well've been lil John

really? that's not where I know him from though! He's 'that guy from stargate' to those of us who watched it whereas to a lot more people he's 'that guy from Game of Thrones'.

He was great in Game of Thrones. He's not really an actor in the sense that he doesn't really have much variety. He relies on screen presence.
