Michael Keaton has the Need For Speed
The magnificent Michael Keaton is the latest cast member to sign up for the Need For Speed adaptation.
Michael Keaton is one of a good many actors who star seems to have dropped of the radar a little of late, which is a shame considering his talent, manic energy and magnetic screen presence. So then, it's pleasing to pass on the news of another role he has secured (in addition to his upcoming part in the RoboCop reboot), as he's the latest addition to the cast of Dreamworks' Need For Speed movie.
The lead of the film is Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, playing an aspiring street racer who is framed by his wealthy backer (Dominic Cooper). After serving a stretch behind bars, he joins a road race from New York to Los Angeles where things are made all the more difficult when a bounty is placed on his head. Although we'd guess that this will do little more than to level the playing field (or tarmac possibly?), as otherwise his super awesome driving skills would make it way to easy.
Anyway, back on to Keaton; he'll play a reclusive and eccentric chap who hosts the underground race. Sounds like it'll provide plenty of opportunities for gloriously unhinged Keaton, which can only be a good thing.
The film will be directed by Scott Waugh, the former stuntman who directed Act Of Valor, and will also star the likes of Imogen Poots, Romon Rodriguez and Kid Kudi. The film is set for release on February 7th 2014.
