The Razzies: the list of nominees

News Ryan Lambie 9 Jan 2013 - 07:46

Twilight, Battleship and That's My Boy are among the nominees on this year's Golden Raspberries list...

While the awards season is usually about filmmakers and actors giving each other a warm pat on the back for the previous year's achievements, the Golden Raspberries instead provide the tittering alternative: a selection of what Hollywood sees as the most mediocre or ill-advised movies or performances from the past 12 months.

There are few surprises in this year's selection, with Twilight making a predictably strong showing along with maritime flop Battleship, as well as Adam Sandler's comedy misfire That's My Boy. It's undeniable that some of the movies deserve a bit of a nudge in the ribs, but we're mildly disappointed that its compilers didn't cast their net a little wider, and pepper some of the categories with one or two more leftfield choices. Prometheus's Fifield and Milburn (Sean Harris and Rafe Spall) surely deserved a nomination for Worst Screen Couple, didn't they?

Here's that nominations list in full. See what you make of it:

A Thousand Words really wasn't that bad...

Sad that Taylor Lautner and 'scary Photoshop baby' are not on the Worst Screen Couple shortlist...

Anyone else feel that the Razzies has badly devolved over the past several years?

umm yeah they are; Mackenzie Foy and Taylor Lautner in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II

I don't know what people are thinking....Battleship was a fun, "check your brain at the door", action packed thrill ride. I enjoyed the heck out of that movie.

Clean sweep for Twilight, surely. Well-deserved, too.

The Twilight movies should win everything cause they deserve to win something and it sure aint an oscar.

Not wishing to stick up for Twighlight or anything, but That's My Boy was far, far, far worse.

Quite a poor year for bad movies as only a few of them were ripped to pieces. I expect Twilight to sweep the board as it's the most high-profile of the nominees and wll generate the most publicity for the ceremony.

Battleship must have had a larger budget for advertising than it did to make the movie itself. I felt swamped in Battleship ads and tie in from retailers, it seemed like the movie was released 6 months before it actually was. I was so worn out by the time I got around to seeing the movie to realize I just didnt care to see it. So the old adage is still "the more movie advertising you see, the worse the movie is probably going to be."

Twighlight should win everything its up for. EVERYTHING. So that solves that.

I would like to add my own catagory to this list.

The Most Dissapointing Film / s of the year.

My nominations are -

The Hunger Games
Red Tails
John Carter
The Bourne Legacy

And the winner is.........Skyfall!

Heheh I cant tell you how disapointed I was. I wanted to see a James Bond film, and what I got to see was Spooks meets Eastenders, starring Daniel Craig as Sid James the Turnip. Second place goes to Prometheus, with Red Tails in third and Looper fourth...then all the rest bubbling under.....I am braced for disagreements, and criticism....

Although I loved John Carter, I expected to see that on here just due to the biggest loss for a movie, I'm very happy not to see it though.

It's become the hipster bandwagon awards. Yes, Twilight sucks, but that Adam Sandler movie should have gotten the most nominations as it was pure hell on Earth.

Prometheus most definitely deserves a mention in several categories here, what an awful, awful film and a major disappointment.

I've never liked Katherine Heigl, except for her looks, I've never understood how she keeps getting movie roles. Kristen Stewart is another actress who I is a waste of space. I really tried to give her chance in the Snow White film but I actually wanted Charlize Theron to kill her and gives a decent plot twist. Ghost Rider was decent, I don't think it deserves a Razzie.

Come on, Nicholas Cage nailed Ghostrider the second time around...
Tyler Perry as Alex Cross though was brutal.

Why no Taken 2, it was *dreadful*

Twilight is bad but does it have to be in every category? I'd throw in Abducted, Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter or Gone just to name a few.

Three Stooges was awful. And Twilight it what it is. I know we're supposed to hate it, I certainly don't care for it, but it's not top 5 worst of the year.

correct mate

In my opinion Nice Cage is awful. Period. But he's done some good movies.

Ummm, I enjoyed Battleship for what it was. It was a brain dead action movie, exactly what I was expecting, but I don't know that it was that bad.
Each to their own I guess.

I like Cage but Ghost Rider 2 was awful. Twilight, I realized it sucked after the first film and didn't see the other two. I'm not in Tyler Perry's segment, and Adam Sandler movies are Adam Sandler movies.
